The Devils Lake boys hockey team peppered Fargo Davies goalie Tucker Windels with 20 shots in the first period. In the second period, the Firebirds outshot the Eagles 12-0.
That repeated pressure eventually led to Devils Lake's 3-1 victory over Davies in a loser-out game Friday afternoon in the East Region tournament at Purpur Arena.
Tanner Hoffmeyer and Tate Aronson scored first-period goals for Devils Lake, while Karson Kuntz rounded out the Firebirds' scoring with a second-period tally.
Firebirds goalie Sawyer Diseth stopped 11 shots, giving up just one goal - a shot by Alex Groth at 12 minutes, 3 seconds of the first period to even the score at 1.
Aronson's unassisted goal with 53 seconds left in the opening period, though, stood as the game-winner.
