VALLEY CITY, N.D. — No. 1 seed West Fargo cruised past No. 5 seed Fargo North on Thursday in the North Dakota East Region tournament championship semifinals.

Tori Nichols-Kraft had three hits for the Packers. Mariah Peters had two hits, including a home run, while Ashlyn Diemert also homered. Courtney Boll surrendered one run on four hits with 12 strikeouts for the complete-game victory.

Alex Egge drove in the run for the Spartans.

The Packers (20-5) secured a spot in the state tournament and will play Valley City for the East Region championship at 3 p.m. Saturday.

North (12-15) will play the winner of Friday’s Grand Forks Red River/Grand Forks Central matchup in an 11 a.m. Saturday state qualifier.

Valley City 2, West Fargo Sheyenne 0

VALLEY CITY, N.D. — No. 3 seed Valley City notched a shutout victory over No. 2 seed West Fargo Sheyenne in the East Region tournament championship semifinals.

Valley City pitcher Hailey Schaefer had a dominant performance on the mound, striking out 18.

The Hi-Liners (16-7) earned a spot in the state tournament and will play West Fargo for the region title at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Sheyenne (13-10) will play the winner of Friday’s Fargo Davies/Fargo Shanley game at 1 p.m. Saturday in a state qualifier.
