Former F-M Ice Sharks standout Tyler Arnason is off to a great start in his first season in the National Hockey League.

Arnason, who was a first team All-United States Hockey League pick in 1997-98 while playing with the Ice Sharks, was named National Hockey League Rookie of the Month for October.

The seventh-round draft pick scored eight points (four goals, four assists) to lead all rookies in the month. He also scored two late goals that helped the Blackhawks to a pair of wins in the past two weeks.

Arnason led the USHL in scoring during the 1997-98 season. He scored 37 goals and added 45 assists in 52 games.

He later went on to star at St. Cloud State, where he was named to the Western Collegiate Hockey Association's All-Rookie team during the 1998-99 season.
