FARGO-Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks pitcher Brandon Mann has broken the American Association's single-season record for strikeouts.

Mann recorded five strikeouts during the RedHawks' professional baseball game against the New Jersey Jackals of the Canadian-American Association on Wednesday at Newman Outdoor Field.

The game was still in progress at the time of this report.

Mann entered the game with 140 strikeouts and needed five to break the record of 144 set by former Sioux Falls Canaries pitcher Ben Moore in 2011.

Mann's record-breaking strikeout came in the fourth inning of Wednesday's game. He struck out New Jersey right fielder Leandro Castro to break the record. His strikeout of New Jersey first baseman A.J. Kirby-Jones in the third inning tied Moore's record.
