BRANDON, S.D. — The Fargo Post 400 Stars waited until the last minute to pull out a victory in their first Sioux Falls Tournament game on Saturday. That wasn't the case in Game 2.
The Stars tore up the West Central Trojans in the second game, pounding out 19 hits in a 14-0, five-inning victory. In Game 1, the Stars took advantage of Obena errors to rally for an 8-5 victory in Game 1.
In Game 2, Post 400's Kobe Senn was 4-for-4 with four RBI and three runs scored, and Colten Alme had two hits and drove in two runs. Andy Mach was 3-for-4 and Caden Graf, Tate Gustafson and Ethan Claus all had two hits. Mach got the win with a four-hitter. He didn't issue a walk and he struck out three.
Down five runs most of Game 1, the Stars rallied for three runs in the sixth and pulled ahead with five runs in the seventh. In the sixth, Caden Graf singled in a run and two more scored on two Obena errors, making it 5-3. In the seventh, the Stars loaded the bases on a single, walk and hit batsman. Colten Alme singled in a run, Graf followed with a double that drove in the tying run and an Obena error on the play allowed two more to score. The fifth run of the inning also scored on an error by Obena, which committed five in the game.
Alme and Jacob Topp did their part on the mound, setting down the final nine Obena hitters in order.
