Fargo's Freeman preps for U.S. Amateur Championships

NORMAN, Okla. - Drake University junior and Fargo native Ben Freeman will begin stroke qualifying play today at the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championships.

NORMAN, Okla. - Drake University junior and Fargo native Ben Freeman will begin stroke qualifying play today at the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championships.

The week long tournament will be played at the Jimmie Austin/University of Oklahoma Golf Club.

The 156-man field will be narrowed to the lowest 64 players who advance to match play on Wednesday through Saturday. The champion gets an invitation to the 2010 Masters.

Freeman qualified for the tournament by carding a 72-68-140 to win sectional qualifying at the Dakota Winds Golf Course in Hankinson, N.D. on June 22.
