FARGO - Micah Herbel, a fourth-grader at Lewis and Clark Elementary, will compete in the 10-year-old division at the Capitol Clash Fencing Tournament this weekend in Baltimore.
The Capitol Clash is one of the largest youth fencing tournament in the world, with 1,100 entries. It is a qualifier for the U.S. Nationals.
Herbel, who has been training with the Fargo-Moorhead Fencing Club, is the only fencer from the Upper Midwest competing in the tournament.
FM Fencing Club member Edward Powell, a junior at Fargo South High School, has qualified to compete in the Junior Olympics in Portland Feb. 15.
