FARGO — After Easton Stick was taken in the fifth round of Saturday's NFL Draft, a host of former North Dakota State players found their new homes as well.
Tanner Volson will be joining his Bison quarterback in Southern California, after signing a free agent deal Saturday evening. The Balfour native finished his career in style, winning the 2018 Rimington Award.
Tampa Bay will also have two Bison, as running back Bruce Anderson and defensive back Jalen Allison each signed free-agent deals with the Buccaneers. Anderson scored 33 touchdowns and rushed for 2,896 yards in his NDSU career. Allison tallied 156 total tackles and eight interceptions during his four years in Fargo.
Two players also received rookie mini-camp invitations. Safety Robbie Grimsley is heading to New Orleans after posting 17 interceptions and 146 total tackles in his college career. He was also named a first-team AP All-American last season.
Meanwhile, Darrius Shepherd will be staying up north. The wide receiver will be with Green Bay for mini-camp. Shepherd caught 20 touchdown passes and 2,841 yards. He concluded his career with a stellar game in Frisco, recording five receptions for 125 yards and two touchdown catches.
