DILWORTH — After it's first non-winning season in six years, the D-G-F Rebels are not taking 2019 for granted.

D-G-F had won the Class 3A, Section 8 title four years in a row at one point. In the last two seasons, however, they've failed to reach the section title game. The Rebels have made it their mission in 2019 to get back to the championship bout.

There is a wealth of leadership and experience that will take the field for the Rebels this season. They welcome back 15 starters from 2018, 14 of which will be seniors. That includes three-year starting quarterback Aidan Leach, who passed for 1,429 yards and 14 touchdowns during his junior season.

The schedule for D-G-F opens up with the Hawley. The Nuggets were Section 8AA finalists last season, finishing 9-2. The schedule also pits them in back-to-back matchups with Perham and Detroit Lakes. The Rebels were blown out by both teams in 2018 in back-to-back games.

The three games against the Nuggets, Yellow Jackets, and Lakers could prove pivotal in the way Tony Soderberg's squad bounces back. Soderberg is looking for his first state title with the Rebels.
