PERHAM -- Finn Diggins had been sitting on some big news for a couple of weeks.
"I have never posted anything on Twitter, but since I posted my commitment, I have 50 retweets and 200 likes, it's been crazy." Diggins said.
The news of Diggins commitment to North Dakota State football flared up Wednesday afternoon. The 6'5, 215 pound quarterback/slot back/wide receiver has been committed for two weeks but finally made it public. He was offered in early April and felt Fargo was the best fit.
"Once NDSU called me and offered me a scholarship I knew that's where I wanted to be." Diggins said.
Diggins had 37 receptions for 450 yards and seven touchdowns this past season as the Yellowjackets won the Section 8 3A title for the second straight year. Perham lost to Pierz in the state quarterfinals. Starting quarterback Colton Hackel was injured earlier in the season and Diggins saw time at quarterback. Ironically though, Diggins thought another sport was his true calling.
"Growing up I always thought it I would play college basketball, a couple coaches reached out to me, but no other school could provide national championships and culture of NDSU, that's what made my decision." Diggins said.
Diggins becomes the sixth commitment for the class of 2021 for the Bison. He says the University of North Dakota also offered and the other regional FCS schools (SDSU and USD) were in talks with him.
