After the last two weeks of news in the FCS , I feel like Vince Lombardi:
"What the hell is going on out here?"
Since NDSU last played a football game on March 20th, we have seen eight teams opt out of the spring season. UND and SDSU will go a month between games, while another league will send a team to the smaller playoff field that will play only three games.
If this spring didn't already have an asterisk next to it, now there should be a large exclamation point.
The powers at be at the NCAA don't care that this watered down and bizarre season will continue on. Makes me wonder if the NCAA even knows what FCS is.
Illinois State head coach Brock Spack summed it perfectly about the spring : The Missouri Valley coaches agreed on that the fall season has to go off without a hitch. Every day that we played in the spring, we were hurting the fall.
That's the end of the discussion. Yes it's been fun to see football back and heck the Bison improved from game one to game five. But at what cost? The top running back got hurt and their top running back left for the transfer portal.
It's time for somebody with common sense to stop this charade and tell teams we'll see you in August. But that won't happen. A champion will be crowned in Frisco. I wonder if an asterisk will be attached to the trophy.
