NDSU football fans have to feel like I did when I was in high school.

Watching everyone invited to the cool kids party and you're left on the outside.

It has to feel that way to see James Madison set to bolt the FCS for the greener pastures of the FBS and an invite to the Sun Belt Conference.

The Dukes have positioned themselves well with a good football team, great facilities and most importantly, a location that's desirable. They'll be re-united with some other FCS giants like Georgia Southern, Appalachian State and Coastal Carolina.

What does this mean for NDSU?

It means the Bison are likely to go be left out in the cold. Fans ask me all the time why that's the case?

Location hurts. North Dakota still has a stigma attached to it for people not from around here.

Plus, what do you do with the rest of your sports? The Summit League is a perfect home for everything, and FBS conferences aren't really excited about a football only membership.

For the foreseeable future, this will be a tough blow for not just NDSU but the entire FCS. Another top notch program is on its way out.

NDSU's administration needs to ask itself, what else can they do at FCS? And who's going to be left to challenge them?

The answers are getting fewer by the day.
