FARGO - North Dakota State head coach Matt Entz is closing in on completing his coaching staff. Two sources tell WDAY's Dom Izzo that Entz is "zeroing in" on Northern Iowa assistant David Braun and Rutgers assistant AJ Blazek.

The football coaching website, FootballScoop.com reported these moves as well.

Braun has worked at Northern Iowa the last two seasons, in 2017 he was the defensive line coach, this past season he served as the special teams coach and worked with the outside linebackers. Braun is a Winona State alum, the same school where Entz coached from 2002-2009. Braun played for Entz from 2005-07. Braun also coached at UC Davis before coming to Northern Iowa.

AJ Blazek has coached at Rutgers University the last three seasons, coaching the offensive line. Blazek is an Iowa graduate, he was an all-Big Ten center for the Hawkeyes in 1999 and 2000. Blazek and Entz intersected at Winona State, where Blazek began his coaching career in 2009, they worked together at Western Illinois, where Blazek was the offensive line coach while Entz was the defensive coordinator.

Braun and Blazek will join Grant Olson as part of Entz's staff. Olson is returning to Fargo after spending the last four years coaching at two separate schools, Wyoming and Indiana State. Tyler Roehl, Randy Hedberg, Nick Goeser, Buddha Williams and Kody Morgan are remaining on the Bison staff, with some switching to new positions and others gaining new titles. Entz told Izzo that he wanted to have his new staff completed by the end of the week. He was set to hold interviews for the other open positions on his staff at the American Football Coaches Association Convention in San Antonio this week.
