MISSOULA, Mont. - Andrew Harris, a football player at Montana, was found dead in his home Tuesday. He was 22.
His death was being investigated as a suicide, Sgt. Travis Welch of the Missoula Police confirmed to the Montana Standard.
"We extend our deepest sympathies to Andrew's family and friends at this difficult time," university president Seth Bodnar said. "The entire UM family mourns his loss and our hearts go out to all who knew him."
Harris was from Kalispell, Mont., and was a first-team all-state player at Glacier High School in 2014.
For the Grizzlies, he was a redshirt senior defensive end. He saw action in one game in 2016, and he appeared in two games in 2017. He played in eight games last season, primarily on special teams.
Harris' father, Greg, played for the Grizzlies from 1971-75, and his older brother, Josh, was a defensive end there from 2008-12.
His death comes just a week after the one-year anniversary of the death of another college football player in the Northwest. Washington State quarterback Tyler Hilinski committed suicide on Jan. 16, 2018.
