FARGO — Sioux City posted a 4-2 victory over the Fargo Force on Saturday in United States Hockey League action before 4,079 fans at Scheels Arena.
The teams traded blows in the opening frame. Ben Steeves put Sioux City up 1-0 with a goal 2 minutes, 45 seconds into the first period. Cole Knuble answered for the Force 21 seconds before the intermission with his 11th goal this season.
Ben Doran gave Sioux City (18-10-4) the lead with a goal 10:39 into the second period and Bennett Schimek pushed it to 3-1 at 12:55. The Force got one back toward the end of the second frame when Ryan Alexander buried his 11th goal this season.
That 3-2 score would hold until the final seconds of the game when Steeves scored an empty-netter to seal the win.
Sioux City had a 43-20 edge in shots on goal. Force goalie Louden Hogg tallied 39 saves.

The Force (12-16-4) wrap up the month of January with a two-game home bout against Sioux City starting Friday, Jan. 28.
