Former Bison Tuszka, Shepherd waived from NFL teams

DENVER — Former North Dakota State standouts Derrek Tuszka and Darrius Shepherd were waived Saturday by their respective NFL teams.

Tuszka, an All-American and Missouri Valley Football Conference defensive player of the year at NDSU in 2019, was a seventh-round pick of the Denver Broncos. It was noted the Broncos hope to add Tuszka to their practice squad.

Shepherd, a wide receiver who was an undrafted and free agent signing of the Green Bay Packers in 2018, was released as well on Saturday. Shepherd made the Packers initial 53-man roster last year, playing in six regular-season game before he was released to the practice squad.
