STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Emily Fox scored 21 points as Minnesota beat Penn State 56-48 on Thursday for the Gophers' first-ever season sweep of the Lady Lions.
Fox connected on 9 of 16 shots from the field and made both of her free throws. Leslie Knight chipped in 11 points for the Gophers (18-8, 9-5 Big Ten) and Katie Ohm added 11.
With the win, the Gophers moved to within a game of Iowa, Ohio State and Purdue, who are tied atop the Big Ten standings.
When Fox hit a 3-pointer with 10:49 left to play, Minnesota led 51-31 and appeared headed for an easy win. But the Gophers missed nine field goals and turned the ball over seven times as Penn State mounted a 17-1 run to make it 52-48 with three minutes remaining.
