Girls hockey: Fargo North-South turns back Minot in shootout

North-South outshoots Minot 38-13 on Friday to improve to 16-1 overall

FARGO — Fargo North-South edged Minot 2-1 in a girls hockey shootout Friday night at the Fargo Coliseum.

North-South won the shootout 2-1. Anna Nelson found the back of the net in the shootout for the Spruins.

Rylee Bartz, the state’s leading scorer, netted a goal at the 3 minutes, 8 seconds mark of the first period for North-South on an assist from Evelyn Olson.

North-South held onto the 1-0 lead until the third period, before Abigail Tallman buried the equalizer for Minot at 4:50 of the third.

North-South held a 38-13 shots-on-goal advantage. Spruins goalie Savannah Wuitshick tallied 12 saves.

North-South improved to 16-1 overall, while Minot dropped to 10-8.
