MILTON, Ontario — Fargo native Tom Hoge is returning to the U.S. Open, thanks to two great rounds played in Canada.
Hoge shot rounds of 70 and 69 at the U.S. Open sectional qualifier at Rattlesnake Point Golf Club in Milton to earn one of four qualifying spots for the major championship. Hoge will be playing in the PGA Tour's RBC Canadian Open later this week.
"It was a tough day weather wise, temperatures in the 40s and wind gusting, I know some of the southern guys weren't excited on the driving range," Hoge said. This will mark the third U.S. Open for the Fargo South alum. Hoge qualified for the 2015 Open at Chambers Bay in Washington and the 2016 tournament at Oakmont Country Club. Hoge has failed to make the cut both times.
This year's U.S. Open will be played at Pebble Beach Golf Course in California beginning next Thursday, June 13. Hoge has played the course before, including earlier this year at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. He missed the cut this season.
