FARGO — Emily Doeden of Moorhead Park Christian High School was named one of eight finalists for Ms. Minnesota Golf, the yearly award that goes to the outstanding high school golfer in the state.
Both Ms. and Mr. Golf winners will be presented this Sunday at the annual awards banquet at Windsong Farm Golf Club in Independence, Minn., located west of the Twin Cities. Other Ms. Golf finalists are Leah Herzog and Sophia Yoemans from Red Wing, Melanie LeMinh from Wayzata, Madi McGinty from Minnewaska, Dasha Parker from Edina, Jessica Smith from Lakeville South and Molly Stevens from Northfield.
The award recognizes the outstanding male and female golfers based on performance on the course, academic achievement and strength of character. Finalists are chosen by a committee of high school coaches and amateur golf representatives. Kate Smith from Detroit Lakes and Andrew Israelson from Staples won the inaugural Ms. and Mr. Golf awards in 2016.
