Crosslake, Minn.

Crosswoods Golf Course owner Mike Stone has found a niche in northern Minnesota. He has been known for years for plowing snow off his golf course in order to get a head-start on the season. He's at it again.

Stone cleared snow from the driving range at Crosswoods, a 27-hole facility in the Brainerd lakes area. He says the range is open and ready to use.

Stone and his wife Kelly started clearing their golf course early in the season last year when their daughter, Savannah, coach of the Pequot Lakes girls golf team, wanted her players on turf instead of inside a gym. Nine holes of the golf course should be ready in a week or two, according to Stone.

Temperatures are expected to be in the late 40s by the weekend.
