Harms sparks Hawley

HAWLEY, Minn.

HAWLEY, Minn. - King Midas had nothing on Brady Harms on Tuesday night.

Hawley's senior quarterback had the golden touch, scoring on his first two carries and throwing a touchdown with his first pass.

The unbeaten Nuggets cruised to a 41-19 victory over Agassiz Valley in the first round of the section 8AA playoffs.

"I'm glad he's with us," Hawley coach Peter Naatz said.

Agassiz Valley fumbled on the first play from scrimmage and the Nuggets took advantage.

Four plays later, Harms ran in from 8 yards on his first carry of the game.

Five minutes later, on his second carry, Harms ran87 yards to paydirt.

"It felt long," Harms said, "That run took forever."

Harms final golden moment came at 9:52 in the second, when he hooked up with Daniel Strandquist for a 46-yard touchdown pass.

"We played well out of the chute," Naatz said, "We didn't do anything special, we just played our game."

Agassiz Valley turned the ball over nine times, including three interceptions by safety Andrew VanHavermaet.

Hawley (9-0) will host Mahnomen (8-1) at 2 p.m. Saturday.
