Devils Lake tops North

DEVILS LAKE, N.D. -- Devils Lake scored all of its points in the second quarter Saturday, earning its first Eastern Dakota Conference football victory this season.

Sophomore quarterback Nathan Dehne connected with senior wide receiver Andrew Ross on an 18-yard touchdown pass, accounting for the only Spartans score.

St. Cloud Tech downs Spuds

St. Cloud Tech defeated Moorhead 2-1 in high school boys soccer Saturday under gusty conditions at Moorview Field.

Moorhead goalie Justin Pattengale shut down St. Cloud Tech in the second half after allowing two first half goals. He finished with five saves.

Justin Heinze scored the Spuds' only goal.

North shuts out Minot

Fargo North's Yasmin Nurkic scored twice and assisted on another as the Spartans defeated Minot 3-0 Saturday in North Dakota high school boys soccer.

Ryan Hoffman scored the Spartans third goal at the 13th minute of the first half. Spartan goalkeeper Joel Solberg made three saves.

North is scheduled to play Tuesday at Grand Forks Central.

ELK RIVER, Minn. -- Elk River downed Fargo South 2-0 Saturday in North Dakota boys soccer.

Elk River scored twice in the first half and held the Bruins to five shots on goal for the game.

Fargo South (8-6-1) is scheduled to host Shanley High School of Fargo Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.

Bruggeman lifts Spuds

BRAINERD, Minn. -- Amy Bruggeman drove home a shot off a short pass from Chelsea Schmidt as Moorhead edged Brainerd 1-0 Saturday in Minnesota girls soccer.

Emilly Dale made just one stop for the Spuds (6-2-5). Moorhead is scheduled to play at St. Cloud Tech at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
