North Dakota State may have picked up some immediate help in the defen-sive line. Tyler Westphal, who two years ago was one of the top-ranked football recruiting prospects at defensive end in the country by one ratings service, is transferring from Wisconsin to NDSU.

He'll be immediately eligible - NCAA rules allow a player moving from a Football Bowl Subdivision school to a Football Championship Subdivision pro-gram to not have to sit out a year. The 6-foot-6, 245-pound Westphal from Menasha, Wis., picked the Bison over Southern Illinois, a fellow Missouri Valley Football Conference team.
