Former Cobbers hockey player, who gained national attention for ice skating to class video, signs pro contract with Swedish team
MOORHEAD—Former Concordia men's hockey player Zach Doerring has signed a professional contract with the Swedish Division 2 team Amals SK.
Doerring was named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference most valuable player last season with the Cobbers. He had 22 points (10 goals, 12 assists) in the team's 16 MIAC games.
Amals SK plays in Division 2, which is the fourth level of professional hockey in Sweden.
Doerring also gained national notoriety last December after posting a video of him skating to class. The video was viewed more than 1 million times.
