MOORHEAD — The Spuds opened their season with a 3-1 victory over visiting Bloomington Jefferson Friday night.

Bella Grant gave the Jaguars an early lead with a first period score. Moorhead trailed after the first intermission, but quickly tied the score with Ava Kistner's power play goal less than a minute into the second frame.

Olivia Dronen added an unassisted goal in the second period to give the Spuds a lead they would not relinquish. Brianna Krejci added a third period goal to finish off the scoring for the Spuds.

Krejci, Hailey Hedlund, Regan Anderson and Elise Stromme each provided assists for Moorhead. Haleigh Storbakken made 14 saves.

Moorhead (1-0) returns to the ice at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12 against Alexandria at the Runestone Community Center.
