FARGO — The Fargo Force utilized a balanced attack to tally a 5-4 win over Lincoln in United States Hockey League action before 2,382 fans Saturday at Scheels Arena.
Cole Knuble and Gustav Portillo each scored a goal for the Force in the first period. Felikss Gavars and Jakob Stender each scored in the second period, and Andre Gasseau added a fifth Fargo goal in the third to push the lead to 5-1.
The Stars came to life late, however. Noah Laba scored 5 minutes, 43 seconds into the final frame. Michael Mastrodomenico netted a goal at the 9:23 mark and Dalton Norris scored at 17:50 to slice it to 5-4. That's as close as Lincoln would get, as Fargo held on for the one-goal win.
Force goalie Anton Castro notched 36 saves.
Fargo (3-1-1) is slated to play Omaha in a two-game road series starting at 7:05 p.m. Friday.
