Fargo Davies 2, GF Central 1

GRAND FORKS — Davies racked up a 34-12 shots-on-goal advantage in the Eagles’ East Region win over Grand Forks Central.

Jack Bullinger scored a power-play goal for Davies in the second period, assisted by Barron Stibbe. Grant Matter found the back of the net later in the second frame to make it 2-0 Davies on an assist from Luke Lorenz.

Colton Bjorge scored late in the third period for the Knights, but that’s all Davies goalie Trent Wiemken would allow. Wiemken tallied 11 saves.

Davies rose to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the conference, while GFC dropped to 0-1 overall.

GF Red River 5, WF Sheyenne 3

GRAND FORKS — Grand Forks Red River had 46 shots on goal as the Roughriders topped West Fargo Sheyenne in the season opener for both teams.

Carter Sproule scored a power-play goal in the first period to put Red River up 1-0. Garrett Eickman added another Reed River goal later in the frame.

Sheyenne’s Zachary Moser buried a power-play goal late in the first period to cut it to 2-1, assisted by Carson Teckenberg and Chase Hapka. After another Red River goal, Kailen Mattern scored a goal, assisted by Moser, to pull the Mustangs (0-1) within one.

The Roughriders (1-0) then got goals from RyLee Vetsch and Carter Sproule to build a three-goal lead. Jayden Rogen scored with under five minutes left in the game for Sheyenne on an assist from Trey Stocker.

Mustangs goalie Peyton Buchholz tallied 41 saves.

Fargo North 9, Grafton-PR 0

FARGO — North’s Max Watson notched the hat trick, Connor Holm scored two goals and Koby Kiland had a goal and four assists in a win in both team’s season opener on Tuesday at the Fargo Coliseum.

North outshot Grafton-Park River 55-10. North’s Sam Fritel had a goal and three assists, Brendan Richards had a goal and two assists and Nathaniel Fritel scored a goal. Goalie Ryan Robison stopped all 10 shots for the shut out.

GIRLS

North-South 4, Mandan 1

MANDAN, N.D. — Rylee Bartz had two goals and an assist in Fargo North-South’s win in both team’s season opener.

Allie Emineth and Becca Mathison scored North-South’s other goals and both had assists. Evelyn Olson had three assists. North-South goalie Savannah Wuitschick stopped 25 of 26 shots.

Fargo Davies 3, Grand Forks 1

FARGO — Davies surged for 45 shots on goal to power past Grand Forks.

Kylie Autrey put the Eagles (1-0) up 1-0 1 minute, 40 seconds into the game on an assist from Morgan Sauvageau. Autrey buried a power-play goal in the second period, assisted by Azalea Jorgenson to make it 2-0 Davies.

Grand Forks’ Annika Presteng cut it to 2-1 later in the second period, but Sandra Sampson scored for the Eagles with under a minute left in the game to put the game away. Taylor Klassen and Olivia Opheim assisted on the goal.

Davies goalie Noelle Lewis recorded 11 saves.

WF United 13, Devils Lake 1

WEST FARGO — West Fargo United’s Zoey Gervais scored the hat trick and seven other United skaters scored goals in the season opener for both teams.

Mia Gervais, Courtney Docktor and Sydney Dye all had two goals and Alyssa Smith, Morgan Bents, Trissa Olafson and Reagan Bents had United’s other goals. Smith also had four assists, Morgan Bents had three and Courtney Docktor had two.

Siri Olson scored unassisted in the first-period for Devils Lake.

Alexandria 2, Moorhead 1

ALEXANDRIA, Minn. — Alexandria goalie Jordan O’Kane tallied 34 saves to help lead the Cardinals to victory over the Spuds.

Bria Holm found the back of the net for the Spuds on assists from Kellsey Kludt and Elle Lebahn. Moorhead goalie Taylor Kressin made 27 saves.

Moorhead dropped to 2-3 overall. Alexandria improved to 1-2 overall.
