SPORTS SUNDAY -- Frigid temperatures on Saturday didn't stop residents in Jamestown from coming to the beginning of a new tradition.
Hockey Day has been a mainstay in Minnesota, and for the first time, North Dakota put together it's own day honoring the sport.
The event was a nostalgic one for some spectators and parents.
"I grew up in Minnesota, we had outdoor hockey there, we'd go to a few games so this kind of brings you back to your roots again," said Stephanie Jensen.
For the players, it was their first chance to experience playing an organized hockey in the open environment.
"It's a really good hockey atmosphere out here, in the cold," said Williston's Kyle Mischke. "It's really well put together, I love it. It's an honor, for hockey day North Dakota."
