FARGO - Two former Fargo South golfers, Tom Hoge and David Schultz, both passed their first test in attempting to reach the U.S. Open.
Hoge shot a 3-under 69 and was the medalist at the qualifier at Olympic Hills in Eden Prairie, Minn., and claimed one of three spots that moves him into sectionals, which he says most likely will be June 3 in Lakewood, Texas.
A final determination will be made later.
Schultz was one of three qualifiers from the event at Prairie Green Golf Course in Sioux Falls, S.D., with a 3-under 69.
