Hot Mic with Dom Izzo: Minnesota's high school football flip-flop

Is now the right time to bring Minnesota high school football back?

Minnesota high school football is back.

Seven weeks after the state high school league decided to move football and volleyball to the spring, the league made a stunning reversal to play football in the fall.

How did this happen? Peer pressure seems to be the biggest reason. Minnesota saw North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa and Wisconsin playing and asked why aren't we?

There a couple of issues I have with this decision. First to me, it signifies that the coaches and the league itself never really believed that the spring was a viable option. Whether it be weather or forcing athletes to choose what sport, that didn't seem like it was a good idea.

Second, the decision to come back now? A couple of schools in our immediate area in Minnesota are going to distance learning. If you're a parent, how can you say you can't have kids in school, but football practice is ok?

I want football back. I just want it to be brought back at the right time. I'm not sure this is that time.
