It only seemed like a matter of time.
Earlier this week, North Dakota State get a verbal commitment from a player from Frisco, Texas. Ryan Jones told me his first collegiate game he attended in person was NDSU's win over Sam Houston State at Toyota Stadium.
Think about that. NDSU's first national title was in January of 2012. Jones was 10 years old when that happened.
He literally has grown up watching the Bison hoist the trophy in Frisco.

This isn't the usual recruiting footprint for NDSU. The Bison hit North Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin hard each year, a majority of their recruiting classes come from those states. They have nine players combined for this year's class.
But it makes sense. High school players like Jones have seen the likes of Jensen, Wentz, Stick and Lance win national titles in their home town. They have seen the throng of fans take over their town for a week each January.
Recruiting is hard work, it's returning to the same spot time after time to find a good player. Who knew that when the Bison kept returning to Frisco they were doing their own kind of recruiting?
Jones is the first from Frisco. NDSU now has another reason to thank Brock Jensen and crew for making history nearly a decade ago.
