Tom Hoge strung together six birdies in a row near the end of his round to post a 9-under 63 and take the first-round lead at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am on Thursday.
The 32-year-old leads Ireland's Seamus Power by one stroke, with Austin Smotherman and Sweden's Jonas Blixt tied for third at 7 under.
It marks the first time in his PGA career he has held a tournament lead outright after 18 holes.

Geographically-challenged NDSU remains stuck in an FCS that's lost most of its powerhouse programs the last 10 years. Appalachian State, Georgia Southern, Coastal Carolina, Sam Houston, Jacksonville State, James Madison. Four of those programs won national championships in the last 15 years.
I have said it in this space before, and I will continue to say it: I, personally, look at James Madison's move to FBS with envy.
