L-L-M No. 1 in region

KINDRED, N.D. - LaMoure-Litchville-Marion outlasted Kindred-Richland 3-2 in 12 innings Monday to clinch the Class B, Region 1 baseball championship.

The Loboes also scored a 3-1 victory in the first game of the day on their way to a 2-0 victory in the best-of 3 series.

"They were two great ballgames," said Kindred-Richland's Scott Milbrandt, named Region 1 coach of the year. "We were just on the wrong side of both of them."

L-L-M advanced to the Class B state tournament, which is scheduled for June 3-5 at Jamestown's Jack Brown Stadium.

L-L-M trailed 2-0 heading into the sixth inning in Game 2 before catcher Derek Willey cracked a solo home run to spark the comeback. Billy Gibbs scored the winning run in the 12th inning.

Nate King of Northern Cass was named Region 1 senior athlete of the year.

Scantlebury's homer boosts West Fargo

Ingrid Scantlebury hit a home run in the top of the seventh to lift West Fargo to a 4-3 victory over Fargo South in high school softball Monday.

Rachelle Cordova went 2-for-3 with a triple for South.

Linstad sparks North against G.F. Central

Alex Linstad went 3-for-3 with three RBIs for Fargo North in the Spartans' 5-3 victory over Grand Forks Central in Eastern Dakota Conference softball.

North ends its regular season with at 10-13 overall and 8-7 in the EDC.

Packers shut out G.F. Central soccer

Nicole Hertel scored West Fargo's first goal at 6:18 in the first half and the Packers didn't look back as they defeated Grand Forks Central 3-0 in high school girls soccer.

Kayle Huso and Johanna Haerter also scored goals for the Packers.
