DILWORTH - Barnesville overcame eight walks by its starting pitcher to beat Frazee 16-6 in six innings Saturdayduring the Minnesota Division II, Sub-district 9 South American Legion baseball tournament at Bob Marshall field.
"The first two innings kind of stunk, but after that my teammates picked up me," said Barnesville starter Michael Strand.
The first six Frazee batters of the game reached base as they batted around scoring five runs in the frame.
Barnesville immediately bounced back with seven run in their half of the first inning.
"I saw a lot of heart and confidence," said Barnesville head coach John Anderson. "We battled all game, especially after Frazee scored five runs in the first inning and we responded with seven."

Frazee would score its last run of the game in the second inning with a solo home run by Jacob Galbrecht to left field.
Barnesville's Cory Amundson went 3-for-3 with a two-run home run in the fifth and finished the game with six RBIs.
"On Thursday, we didn't play (Amundson) and I think he was a little angry at me," Anderson said. "He responded really well for
us today."
Jacob Grosz also hit a two-run home run for Barnesville.
Strand threw a complete game and helped his cause by going 3-for-4 with three singles, a run scored and a stolen base.
Barnesville did not commit an error behind Strand.
"Our defense has played really well the last two games," Strand said.

With the win, Barnesville advances to the tournament finals to meet Breckenridge.
"I knew we had a chance to make some noise in this tournament, make the final, maybe not," Anderson said. "It just goes to show that the seeds don't matter and not one team is dominant."

Eight consecutive batters reached base for Breckenridge in the inning as 14 hitters came to the plate.
Breckenridge catcher Ryan Voss hit a three-RBI bases-loaded double with two outs in the inning to keep the team's momentum.
"It wasn't characteristic. We have been getting out early on teams all year," Breckenridge head coach Kevin Hiedeman said.
"Today we waited until the sixth inning to do it and I'm not exactly sure why. We should have hit the ball better, we were out front and a little too eager. Finally when we had to score, when we were down 2-1, we finally played like we did all year and bunched together a ton of hit."
The two runs for D-G-F came off solo home runs by Dylan DeJong and Isaiah Greene.
Hiedeman says that it was not a given that the No. 1 seed would make the tournament final.
"Our conference is so loaded with teams that are equal. On any given day when someone pitches their No. 1, anybody can beat anybody," he said. "But I'm confident going into today's game."
