Legion baseball: Moorhead Blues cruise to shutout win over Desoto

OMAHA, Neb. — The Moorhead Blues took down Desoto 6-0 to close pool play Saturday at the Battle of Omaha American Legion baseball tournament.

Carter Heinsch finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs to lead the Blues. Carson Zimmel and Jacob Hendrickson each drove in a run. Jackson Young and Zach Taft each tallied two hits and two runs scored.

Zimmel tossed a stellar five innings for the Blues, giving up only one hit and one walk while striking out 11. Heinsch tossed two no-hit relief innings, striking out one.

The Blues finished 2-3 in pool play and rose to 9-6 overall this season. They're slated to play at Alexandria in a doubleheader starting at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
