MOORHEAD — The Moorhead Blues looked to have things sewn up early against Fargo Post 400 on Wednesday but — late-inning fireworks later — the Blues had to hold on for a 20-17 win.

The Blues scored eight runs in the first inning, the last three coming on Justin Stalboerger's three-run home run. The Blues scored two more in the second, the big blasts being Carter Heinsch's two-run home run and Tyden Bergeson's two-run double.

But Post 400's Cheyton Senn hit a grand slam and Easton Rerick hit a solo homer in the fifth, and Rerick capped a six-run sixth with a grand slam that left the Blues clinging to a 13-12 lead.

But Moorhead righted their ship with four runs in the sixth, another run in the seventh and two more in the eighth for a 20-12 lead.

Post 2 rallied once again, scoring five runs in the top of the ninth before the Blues closed the door.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "staff." Often, the "staff" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
