As an avid basketball fan and a recent North Dakota State graduate, I have always enjoyed attending both Bison men's and women's basketball games.

During the past few semesters, I must say that at times I have been disappointed with the low attendance at many of the women's home games, including the ones played this year.

It is somewhat difficult for me to understand how well over 18,000 fans can come out for a Bison football game, but at times not even 1,000 people attend a Bison women's basketball game.

Even if someone isn't a really big fan of basketball itself, Bison women's basketball games still provide a fun and exciting atmosphere for those who attend.

If I had to use a word to describe the women's team, I would have to say that they are determined. With only one senior on the team, they are considered to be young and maybe even inexperienced. I feel the women are determined to prove they can compete against the big name opponents in NCAA Division I women's basketball, in which I think they will do.

Tonight, the Bison women take on Summit League rival IUPUI with game-time set for

7 p.m. at the Bison Sports Arena. I hope to see everyone there supporting the Bison women's basketball team.
