MOORHEAD - Wet and windy weather accompanied the first round of the Fargo-Moorhead Women's All-City golf tournament on Wednesday, but that didn't slow 16-year-old Kathleen Marsh.
Marsh, a junior at Fargo Davies, shot a 79 at Village Green Golf Course to finish the tournament's first round with a one-stroke lead.
"It was a little bit windy and kind of cold, a little wet too," Marsh said. "I try not to think about it much because everyone has the same conditions."
Marsh made a birdie on the eighth hole to finish the front nine at 2-over-par 38.
The back nine proved to be more challenging, as Marsh bogeyed three holes and shot double-bogey on the 12th hole to finish 5 over par with a 41.

"My chipping was good," Marsh said. "But I'm going to work a little harder on my short game and work on my approach shots."
Marsh enters today's second round one stroke ahead of LeeAnn Townsend, who didn't seem affected by the weather either.
"The weather wasn't bad at all," said Townsend, daughter of former Fargo South golf coach Lyle Hornbacher. "It was a little windy, but turned out to be a nice day."
Townsend trailed by two strokes after the front nine, shooting a 40. But a birdie on the 11th hole gave her a one-stroke lead on the back nine, but she finished with a 40 to end the round one stroke behind Marsh.
Townsend has competed in the All-City before, but has yet to take the title.
"It would be nice (to win), but I just enjoy playing well," Townsend said. "Good, bad or different. It's just good to be out on the course."
The tournament concludes today with an 18-hole round at Edgewood Golf Course in Fargo.
