Janna Zirnhelt's goal in the 77th minute lifted Grand Forks Red River to a 1-1 tie with West Fargo in an Eastern Dakota Conference girls soccer match played at West Fargo.

The Packers (4-3-3 in the EDC) outshot Red River 12-5 and took an early 1-0 lead when Kris Bruns found the back of the net seven minutes into the first half. Jen Prudlick was credited with the assist on Bruns' goal.

Bruins top Fergus Falls

FERGUS FALLS, Minn. -- Clay Solum went 2-for-3 with a double and pitched two innings of hitless relief to power Fargo South past Fergus Falls 2-1 in a nonconference high school baseball game Tuesday in Fergus.

Solum relieved starting pitcher Jake Overby, who allowed one run on seven hits in five innings, in the bottom of the sixth to pick up his first save of the season.

Nelson, Reitz lead Spuds

DETROIT LAKES, Minn. -- Matti Nelson shot an 82, while teammate Tanaya Reitz chipped in with an 85 to lead Moorhead to a second place finish at the Detroit Lakes Invitational girls golf tournament Tuesday afternoon.

Sarah Butler and Rachel Broten led Roseau to first in the tournament. The Rams outdistanced the Spuds 341-358.

Fosston's Kelly Roysland claimed medalist honors, firing a 78 and edging out Maureen Hardwick in a playoff hole.
