ELK RIVER, Minn. - A former youth soccer league coach in Elk River has been charged with two counts of sexual assault for allegedly telling a 14-year-old player to disrobe and then touching her.
Eric James Hawkins is also charged with exposing himself to her on another occasion.
Both incidents happened after Hawkins had been suspended in 2003 by the Minnesota Youth Soccer Association for sideline behavior during his games, and an official with the league says he should not have been coaching.
Court documents say the incidents took place when the 44-year-old Hawkins was driving the teenager to practice and games during the winter of 2004 and 2005.
