Shelby Frank is no stranger to making history.

"We know what I was able to do and I know that I wasn't gonna settle for anything less than what I was capable of.

“The discus has always been my baby.”

Beginning in 8th grade, Frank won four consecutive state titles in the discus at Red River High School. Frank's success at the high school level landed her in the Big 10 at the University of Minnesota.


As a freshman, Frank placed in 16th at the NCAA championships. But it was at this year's NCAA Championships where she had another historical meet.

After finishing 6th at the NCAA Championships, Franks will compete at the USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships Friday.

Lightning use big second period to beat Avs, cut series deficit to 2-1

Steven Stamkos, Ondrej Palat and Pat Maroon all collected one goal and one assist and spearheaded a four-goal second period that sparked the host Tampa Bay Lightning to a 6-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche on Monday in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final.

Colorado leads the best-of-seven series 2-1. The two-time champion Lightning will try to even the series at home on Wednesday.

Anthony Cirelli, Nick Paul and Corey Perry also scored for the Lightning, who responded after a 7-0 drubbing last game to claim their eighth consecutive home win. Goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy made 37 saves. >>> Full story here.

On Sunday, that meant scoreless performances from Cody Stashak, who followed Paddack and threw 2⅔ innings, Caleb Thielbar, who struck out all three batters he faced, Joe Smith, Tyler Duffey and Emilio Pagán, who locked down the save after allowing a pair of baserunners in the ninth.
