Jackie Bucholz is starting to feel more comfortable - and not just because her former team isn't on the other side of the net. Since a slow start in the season opener against Perham, the 5-foot-10 Bucholz has a total of 31 kills in her past two matches, both Moorhead victories. She's adjusting to new (and inexperienced) teammates and moving from middle hitter to outside hitter. "I felt like the first couple games it's 'I feel kind of new, so I'm playing my game,'" Bucholz said. "And now we've opened up and started to play better." Defense may be the key to that. Bucholz's ability to play the entire floor has allowed junior middle hitters Sam Bourcy (34 kills) and Megan Jones (44 kills) to thrive offensively.
