Moorhead Blues thump Fergus Falls in sub-state opener

Blues win in five innings and move on to play East Grand Forks in second round Thursday.

FERGUS FALLS — Zach Taft drove in three runs and Quentin Hegg pitched a five-inning gem as the Moorhead Blues opened the Legion Sub-State 14 tournament with an 11-1 win over Fergus Falls on Wednesday.

Hegg, who also had two hits and two RBI, allowed a run on one hit, walked one and struck out seven. The Blues' Jackson Young was 2-for-3 with an RBI and he scored three times and Jacob Hendrickson doubled and had an RBI.

The No. 2-seed Blues next take on No. 6 East Grand Forks at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 22, at Fergus Falls' DeLagoon Park.
