SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Augustana runner Glen Ellingson, a senior from Moorhead, has been named Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference male track athlete of the year.

Ellingson placed first at the NSIC Indoor Championships in both the 3,000-meter run and the 5,000-meter run, breaking the meet record in both events.

Ellingson broke the 5,000 meet record in a time of 14:39.66 breaking the record previously set by former teammate Keegan Carda, who set the record last year with a time of 14:45.85. Ellingson also broke the 5,000 school record earlier in the season with a time of 14:19.56.

Ellingson topped the 3,000 meet record and the school record with a time of 8:16.97. Ellingson broke Sioux Falls' William Brockmeuller's meet record of 8:25.37 that he set in 2015.

Ellingson will compete in both events at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships in Birmingham, Ala. He will race in the 5,000 at 6:30 p.m. today and in the 3,000 at 5 p.m. Saturday.
