INDIANAPOLIS — The Minnesota State Moorhead volleyball team lost 3-1 to Saginaw Valley State before taking down Northern Michigan in five sets to begin the UIndy invitational on Friday.
MSUM lost its first match of the 2019 season with a 23-25, 25-22, 25-18, 25-23 loss to Saginaw Valley. Sarah Petrbok led the Dragons with 10 kills and 15 digs. Amber Bretwisch added a team-high 26 assists, while Taylor Thorson posted 17 digs.
In the second match, the Dragons rallied to a 25-19, 22-25, 18-25, 26-24, 15-6 win over Northern Michigan as Petrbok tallied 17 kills and 18 digs. Bretwisch added another 29 assists and Bridget Witzmann recorded 12 kills.
MSUM (5-1) will play its final two matches at 8 a.m. against Gannon, and 1 p.m. vs. the University of Illinois Springfield.
