Jamestown College opened the NAIA national baseball tournament with a win over the No. 18 team in the country.

Today, they'll get No. 6.

Andy Racus doubled in Max Boe in the top of the 10th inning to break a

3-all tie as the Jimmies hung on to beat 18th-ranked Union (Tenn.) in opening-round action in Oklahoma City on Tuesday afternoon.

Win No. 40 of the season for the Jimmies sets up a winner's-bracket tilt today against NAIA power and tournament host Oklahoma City University, ranked sixth with a 47-14 record.

"Winning 40 baseball games being from the north is a special accomplishment," JC coach Tom Hager said, "but we're not done yet."

The Jimmies (40-11) never trailed in the second first-round game of the day at Jim Wade Stadium, getting a solid start on the mound from Grand Forks junior Alex Kreis, who was coming off a two-week layoff after being left off the Dakota Athletic Conference tournament roster for a violation of team rules.
