OMAHA, Neb. -- Adam Matthews' 1-yard run in the second overtime Saturday led Northern Colorado to a 30-23 win over the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Matthews also scored on a 4-yard TD run for UNC (4-1, 3-0 North Central Conference) in the fourth quarter to slow a UNO (2-4, 1-2) comeback. He finished with 178 yards on 32 carries. The Bears won despite UNO totaling 385 yards of total offense to UNC's 308. The Mavericks trailed through three quarters before J.E. Johnson's 3-yard TD run and a 2-yard run by Trey Guidry in the fourth helped send the game into overtime tied at 20.
St. Cloud State 45, Augustana 7
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Matt Birkel scored three touchdowns -- one on a 93-yard kickoff return -- as unbeaten St. Cloud State beat Augustana. The winning Huskies (5-0, 3-0 NCC) also kicked two field goals, recorded two safeties, and got touchdowns from Brian Olson and Ben Nelson on a 17-yard pass from Keith Heckendorf. Augustana (4-1, 2-1 NCC) was held to 57 yards rushing.
