BISMARCK - Isaiah Steinwand scored 19 points to spark Minot to a 65-51 victory against Fargo Shanley on Friday in the consolation semifinals of the North Dakota Class A state boys basketball tournament at the Bismarck Civic Center.
"I thought we did a good job defensively, I thought offensively we just never got in a rhythm or a flow," Shanley coach Leon Knodel said. "We missed some shots and no one really got in a flow offensively."
Shanley shot 32 percent (13 of 41) from the field for the game and 26 percent (5 of 19) from the floor in the second half.
The Deacons ended their season with a 10-14 record.
Shanley tied the score at 34-34 with 14 minutes, 27 seconds to play in the second half. However, Minot countered with eight consecutive points and never trailed from that point.

The Deacons' top two scorers, junior Josh Rodenbiker and freshman A.J. Jacobson, combined to shoot 3-for-16.
"I thought we came a long ways over the year as a team," said Knodel, who has one senior starter. "We are a young team still. We come back with a lot of guys who got experience this year. I'm happy about that part of it, but we had the opportunities here and we just didn't get into a flow."
