MINOT -- The quarterfinals of the North Dakota Class B state baseball tournament were suspended here Thursday due to a steady rainfall.
The opening round's start was delayed by an hour by rain. The opening game was at the midway point, with Velva-Drake leading Enderlin-Maple Valley 1-0 after 3 1/2 innings, when rain started again and continued throughout the afternoon.
The quarterfinals are scheduled to resume Friday at 10 a.m. with the conclusion of the Enderlin-Maple Valley/Velva-Drake game. The remaining quarterfinals will follow -- Harvey-Wells County vs. Bottineau, Mayville-Portland-Clifford-Galesburg vs. Minot Ryan and Grafton vs. Shiloh Christian, with a 15-minute break between games. Championship semifinals tentatively have been scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. start Friday.
Consolation games will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday. All of Saturday's games will be shortened to five innings exception the state championship game.
